Loss of Innocence

Why oh why
Did they have to die

They started their morning
Thinking that they were
One day closer to graduation

They were all innocent
Just starting the school day
Before going outside to play

It took just two people
To shake a small community and give them grief
To throw them into mourning over the loss of innocence

The nation was just as shocked
As anybody in Columbine that fateful morning
They give their care, love, support and prayers

There is a lesson to be learned
What it is I do not know
Along with everybody else

The Littleton community has seen tragedy at it’s worst
They will now be closer than ever before
And eventually things will be normal again, but never forgotten
