Hearts

The best part of an artichoke is it’s heart
But in order to get to it
You have to peel through several layers
And just when you think you’ve reached it
You find there is one last thin layer
Once you get to it
The reward is well worth it
My heart is the same
Several layers have to be peeled to get to it
That’s why I am so hard to break
As the layers come off
I slowly melt
But once you’re done
It’s well worth the reward
